2026 Nissan Rogue Plug-In Hybrid

Safety

For enhanced safety, the front and middle seat shoulder belts of the Jeep Grand Cherokee L are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Nissan Rogue Plug-In Hybrid doesn’t offer height-adjustable middle seat belts.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Grand Cherokee L Limited Reserve/Summit helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid doesn’t offer a night vision system.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee L offers an optional 360-degree camera and it also offers an optional rear camera washer to make backing always safe, regardless of road dirt or grime, while the Nissan Rogue Plug-In Hybrid doesn’t offer a camera washer, requiring manual cleaning.

Both the Grand Cherokee L and the Rogue Plug-In Hybrid have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available all-wheel drive, around view monitors and driver alert monitors.

Warranty

There are over 2 times as many Jeep dealers as there are Nissan dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Grand Cherokee L’s warranty.

Reliability

The battery on the Grand Cherokee L is under the seat, which protects it from hot underhood temperatures that can degrade battery life. By keeping the Grand Cherokee L’s battery 20 to 30 degrees cooler, its life is increased by years. The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid’s battery is in the hot engine compartment.

Engine

The Grand Cherokee L Laredo’s standard 3.6 DOHC V6 produces 45 more horsepower (293 vs. 248) than the Rogue Plug-In Hybrid’s 2.4 DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid. The Grand Cherokee L’s optional 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 76 more horsepower (324 vs. 248) than the Rogue Plug-In Hybrid’s 2.4 DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Grand Cherokee L has 8.2 gallons more fuel capacity than the Rogue Plug-In Hybrid (23 vs. 14.8 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Grand Cherokee L has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Grand Cherokee L has larger standard tires than the Rogue Plug-In Hybrid (265/60R18 vs. 255/45R20). The Grand Cherokee L Summit’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Rogue Plug-In Hybrid (275/45R21 vs. 255/45R20).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Grand Cherokee L Summit has standard 21-inch wheels. The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

The Grand Cherokee L offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Rogue Plug-In Hybrid; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

Suspension and Handling

The Grand Cherokee L offers an available driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The Grand Cherokee L offers an optional automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Grand Cherokee L’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The Grand Cherokee L has vehicle speed sensitive variable-assist power steering, for low-effort parking, better control at highway speeds and during hard cornering, and a better feel of the road. The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid doesn’t offer variable-assist power steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Grand Cherokee L’s wheelbase is 15.2 inches longer than on the Rogue Plug-In Hybrid (121.7 inches vs. 106.5 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Grand Cherokee L is 2.7 inches wider in the front and 2.4 inches wider in the rear than on the Rogue Plug-In Hybrid.

For greater off-road capability the Grand Cherokee L Laredo/Limited has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Rogue Plug-In Hybrid (8.5 vs. 7.9 inches), allowing the Grand Cherokee L to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Grand Cherokee L Overland/Summit’s minimum ground clearance is 3 inches higher than on the Rogue Plug-In Hybrid (10.9 vs. 7.9 inches).

Chassis

For excellent aerodynamics, the Grand Cherokee L has standard flush composite headlights. The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid has recessed headlights that spoil its aerodynamic shape and create extra drag.

The Grand Cherokee L Altitude/Limited/Summit uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Passenger Space

The Grand Cherokee L has 3.4 inches more front hip room, 1.3 inches more front shoulder room, .8 inches more rear headroom, 1.3 inches more rear legroom, 3 inches more rear hip room, 2.1 inches more rear shoulder room, 4.2 inches more third row headroom, 11.2 inches more third row legroom, .8 inches more third row hip room and .7 inches more third row shoulder room than the Rogue Plug-In Hybrid.

Cargo Capacity

The Grand Cherokee L’s cargo area provides more volume than the Rogue Plug-In Hybrid.

Both the Grand Cherokee L and the Rogue Plug-In Hybrid offer second row automatic folding seats. The Grand Cherokee L Summit’s third row seats also fold up or down at the press of a button. The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid doesn’t offer automatic folding third row seats.

A standard locking glovebox keeps your small valuables safer in the Grand Cherokee L. The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

Towing

The Grand Cherokee L’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Rogue Plug-In Hybrid’s (3500 vs. 1500 pounds). Maximum trailer towing in the Nissan Rogue Plug-In Hybrid is only 1500 pounds. The Grand Cherokee L offers up to a 6200 lbs. towing capacity.

The Grand Cherokee L Summit can be flat towed on all four wheels (dinghy towed), allowing recreational vehicle owners to bring it with them on the road. When they reach their destination, the Grand Cherokee L can be unhitched and driven around locally. The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid can’t be towed flat on the ground.

Servicing Ease

The Grand Cherokee L uses gas struts to support the hood for easier service access. The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid uses a prop rod to support its heavy hood. It takes two hands to open the hood and set the prop rod, the prop rod gets in the way during maintenance and service, and the prop rod could be knocked out, causing the heavy hood to fall on the person maintaining or servicing the car.

The engine in the Grand Cherokee L is mounted longitudinally (North-South), instead of sideways, as in the Rogue Plug-In Hybrid. This makes it easier to service and maintain, because the accessory belts are in front.

Ergonomics

The Grand Cherokee L offers a remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The Grand Cherokee L’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid has neither an oil pressure gauge nor a temperature gauge.

The power windows standard on both the Grand Cherokee L and the Rogue Plug-In Hybrid have locks to prevent small children from operating them. When the lock on the Grand Cherokee L is engaged the driver can still operate all of the windows, for instance to close one opened by a child. The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid prevents the driver from operating the other windows just as it does the other passengers.

On a hot day the Grand Cherokee L’s driver can lower all the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Rogue Plug-In Hybrid can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Grand Cherokee L’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid’s power window, power lock and power mirror switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the Grand Cherokee L Summit has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid doesn’t offer cornering lights.

The Grand Cherokee L’s optional rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid offers an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The Grand Cherokee L Limited Reserve/Summit has standard front air conditioned seats and the Grand Cherokee L Summit also has them in the second row. This keeps the passengers comfortable and takes the sting out of hot seats in summer. The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee L stands out above the Nissan Rogue Plug-In Hybrid by offering not one, but two Qi-compatible phone chargers. This convenience helps travelers with multiple devices to keep powered up on-the-go. Wireless charging eliminates lost or cluttered charging cables and two of them provide more flexibility.

The Grand Cherokee L Summit’s Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

Model Availability

The Grand Cherokee L is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Rogue Plug-In Hybrid doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
